The Oracle OSWatcher Black Box (OSWbb) product is a collection of shell scripts intended to collect and archive operating system and network metrics to aid in diagnosing performance issues. OSWbb operates as a set of background processes on the server and gathers data on a regular basis, invoking such UNIX utilities as vmstat, netstat, iostat.
It's a fine way to get a first feel of the way Blackbox works and looks, but if you want to unleash its full power then you have to install Blackbox as shell (replacing explorer as shell), There is a number ways to do this, but the easiest one is to right click on the desktop. This pops up the Menu and you can look for the entry Install/Install. This Black Box product is now available on Synnex's GSA schedule GS-35F-1043R. You are encouraged to request quotes and orders for Black Box product from Synnex directly. For New Customers A dedicated Black Box team is already in place at Synnex and ready to help you set up your new account. How To Purchase Purchase Options. Call Synnex: 877.
When buying any insurance product there can sometimes be extra fees involved and sometimes they appear after you've been given the final quote. When a member of our Young Driver insurance team gives you a quote for Telematics insurance, the price of the black box (which includes installation) is already factored into your price.
If, for any reason, you cancel the installation at short notice there may be a fee payable. However in the event you do cancel at short notice, we will contact you to discuss the situation.
In the event we have to cancel your policy due to poor driving or not having your box fitted in the required time, you will only receive a refund for the amount of miles that you have not yet used or for the time remaining on your policy as long as you have had no fault claims. You will not receive a refund for the black box itself. This is because the black box cannot be taken out of the car and used for another client, so therefore it cannot be returned to us.
The cost of the black box installation is paid via a one off fee, meaning that you won't need to pay that cost again at renewal. This is because we don't install a new black box when you renew your Young Driver insurance policy. There is a charge at renewal for the box data, but this will be discussed with you.
If you choose not to renew your Think Insurance Telematics insurance policy then the black box device in your car will be deactivated and will no longer record any data. If you would like the telematics device to be removed from your car, then we can send out an engineer to uninstall the box – however we do charge a fee for this service.
When changing the car covered on your Young Driver Black Box insurance policy, you will need to have a new black box installed, as we cannot switch the black box from your old car into the new one. Again, there is a fee for this service. Likewise, if you would like us to remove the black box from your old car before you sell it, there will be a charge for this.
As Telematics insurance becomes increasingly popular with young drivers, more and more second hand cars will be bought with an existing, deactivated telematics device fitted (unless the previous owners have paid to have it removed). If you are buying a car with a Think Insurance black box already fitted, then it may be possible for this box to be activated again. If you have bought a car, wanted to take out a Think Insurance young driver policy and activate a previously live Think box, then you would have to arrange for one of our engineers to come out and review the box, to determine if it can be reused. There would be a cost associated with this, but this can be discussed with one of our agents.
The price of the Telematics device being factored into your Young Driver insurance premium isn't the only benefit of having a black box device installed in your car - there are multiple other benefits including:
Monitor your driving – Once motorists pass their test they are left to their own devices and can begin to quickly pick up some poor driving habits. Having a black box installed in your car will help you to maintain your driving skills and might even help you improve them. This is important in many ways as it can help make sure you avoid causing any accidents by fine tuning your driving skills, as well as helping prevent you from receiving any fines for poor driving such as speeding, or even having your policy cancelled.
Locate your car – If you are unfortunate enough to have your car stolen, we can pass on the location data to the police to help track down your car, in the hope that you are reunited with your vehicle, and potentially reducing the cost of any claim.
Prove you are a good driver – By having a telematics device installed in your car you are committing to being a good driver and the black box can provide us with proof of that, so hopefully when it comes time to renew your policy, your Young Driver insurance premium will go down through good driving.

To start timing using the BBT software, you need to install the software on your Windows computer. If you are not just using it as a client to connect to other servers (see System overview), you will also need to install a database server (used to store all the data in), and get a valid license. We will guide you through the steps below.
Install BBT software
- Contact us to get the installation file BBTinstaller.exe, if you don't have it already.
- Start the installer by double-clicking it. It will update itself if needed
- Follow the simple steps to complete the installation
Note: It is a requirement that you have Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6 on your computer. This is normally handled by Windows itself and is most likely not something you have to worry about.
Install a database server
Note: This step can be skipped if you only need to connect to other timing servers than your own computer.
You need to install a database server to store all the information in. Currently BBT only supports MySQL server, which is free software.Remember the administrator (root) password you selected during installation.
If you already have MySQL installed, you can skip this step.
Installation guide: Installation: MySQL
Configuring BBT
How To Install Black Box Dashcam 1080p
Note: This step can be skipped if you only need to connect to other timing servers than your own computer.
Enter license key
Under the 'License' menu in the right side, you need to enter your license key. The key will be provided to you by us. Each key can be bound to a limited number of computers, depending on your license conditions.
A valid license key has this format: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXX
Configure database
When the MySQL server is installed, we need to tell BBT how to connect to it and get it ready for us. We do this from the 'Database' menu.
You may choose to let BBT configure everything for you, and create a new empty database (recommended). In this case choose 'create a new empty database'.
Enter the username and password you chose during the MySQL installation. When you click next, BBT will set up a new fresh database for you.
For the best experience, you should enter a MySQL user that has access to creating new databases. If you just installed MySQL using this guide, this will already be the case for the default user.
Optional: Firewall rules
If you want to reach the timing computer from other computers on the network, you might want to open the ports to allow incoming connections to the server.
You can do this using 'Windows Firewall with Advanced settings' from the Windows start-menu, and add an inbound rule on the following TCP ports:
